September 2025's Reading Log
19/10/2025

It was national holiday month so I decided to read some chilean authors during september. Forgot to log cuz life sucks, october is also slightly themed but thats for future me to write about.

Bonsai

Alejandro Zambra

Review: A small book about a summary of a story of 2 people that live to perform, a tragic yet lovely love about 2 overly performative teens lying to each other about reading Proust. I can't wait to read more books from this author.

Poemas Y Antipoemas / Poems and Anti-Poems

Nicanor Parra

Review: One tends to forget the genius of the last one of the Parra clan. I need to make an anual habit to revisit all of his poetry.

"The modern world is an enormous sewer,

The chic restaurants are stuffed with digesting corpses

And birds flying dangerously low.

That's not all: the hospitals are full of impostors,

To say nothing of those heirs of the spirit who found colonies in the anus of each new surgical case."

Extract taken from the poem THE VICES OF THE MODERN WORLD .

La última Niebla | La Amortajada / The Final Moment of Fog | The Shrouded Woman

María Luisa Bombal

Review: I love how the dream and real world seems to exist in the same plane in all of his texts. Escaping into a dream from a bland reality.

After reading this I can understand better why she shot his ex in broad daylight. or was is twilight?
